A LLANBRYNMAIR woman is to sell paintings and drawings given to her by a talented Tibetan artist to raise money for Tibetans affected by the recent earthquakes.

Cornelia Horl is to hold a coffee morning at Machynlleth’s Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) Wales on Saturday, 12 December, where she will sell watercolour paintings and sketches given to her by Ngawang Dorje, a young Tibetan artist currently living in Dharamsala, India.

The proceeds, which will include money raised from coffee and cake sales and donations, will go towards Tibetans rebuilding their lives in remote areas devastated by the recent Himalayan earthquakes.

“It is just a very small, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it exhibition of eight or nine watercolours by a young Tibetan artist (two of which are seen above),” said Cornelia.

“I met him once in London and he left me some of his watercolours and sketches.

“I was touched by the plight of the people who were affected by these earthquakes in the Himalayas.

“Winter is coming now again and they have been inadequately helped.”
