A SIGNIFICANT sum has been raised for terminally-ill children following an art exhibition in Meirionnydd.

In April, local artist Penny Gibbons hired the guest wall in the art gallery “Artworks” in Aberdyfi to display her watercolour paintings of butterflies.

As a result of her sales of pictures, Penny was able to donate £1,000 to the children’s hospice Ty Gobaith.

The charity is committed to supporting children and young people and their families with the best possible specialist nursing care, emotional and practical help and bereavement support, when and where it is needed.

Penny hopes the donation will make a significant contribution in helping the continued support services provided by the hospices.

Further forthcoming fund-raising events include a barn dance in Neuadd Pendre on Saturday, 27 May; a table-top sale, again at Neuadd Pendre, on Monday, 29 May and a pyjama walk on Friday, 30 June.
