A RANGE of Ceredigion artists have donated some of their work for an art auction to be held this summer in aid of DASH.
The charity, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, is being helped by Mary Lloyd Jones, Lizzie Spikes, Philip Hukin, Valeriane Leblond, Ruth Jên, Barry Arnold, Averil Clifford Rees and more. There are also works by other well-known artists, such as Shani Rhys James and Edward Povey.
The auction will be held at Y Morlan, Aberystwyth, on Saturday, 16 June, from 2pm onwards, with viewing from 1pm. All the works can also be viewed online at www.dashceredigion.org.uk.
Kate Rhys, a DASH trustee and one of the organisers of the event, said: “I’m so delighted by the support we’ve had from so many of Ceredigion’s excellent artists who have provided us with wonderful artwork.
“DASH does the most amazing work with young people with disabilities in the area and we’re thrilled to bits to be able to offer so many fantastic pieces of art at the auction to further support the charity in this way.”
The charity organises a variety of leisure schemes for disabled children and young people in the area. Parents regularly say “what a lifeline” it is to families in the area.
Karen Jankulak, mother and full-time carer for her profoundly disabled son, Huw, who has been accessing DASH leisure schemes for the past 10 years, said: “It is difficult to give a sense of how overwhelmingly difficult, sometimes seemingly impossible, it is for our family to cope with our son’s disabilities.
“Respite, activities, and inclusion, all make his life happier and my life as a carer more bearable. We feel very, very lucky indeed that a group such as DASH exist in our local authority.”
