THE Cymerau project is showcasing creative work involving water in a public event on Thursday, 19 November, in Talybont Memorial Hall.
Some of the artists working with Cymerau, launched following the floods which hit the area two years ago, will be presenting work by local schoolchildren.
Cymerau has commissioned local arts practitioners to work with people in the Borth and Talybont area, putting on events that stimulate discussions about the many aspects of water.
Cymerau is part of the Hydrocitizenship project, which is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and which includes parallel work in Bristol, the Lee Valley (London) and Shipley (Yorkshire).
A number of artists are working with communities between September and August next year.
This creative work is being presented in each season of the year and will contribute to “Map Dwr” – a digital water map to reflect the local stories that emerge through this process.
The evening will begin with a short film produced by Jo Munton with the schools in Tal-y-bont and Borth. Jo is an experienced puppeteer and choreographer of interactive youth theatre who worked on the film with Owen Glynne Davies.
The work aims to explore issues, attitudes, facts and stories surrounding water using a range of techniques and art forms. The children will work with Jo to encourage some adults to try their hand at animation as well.
