Local photographers have been put in the frame for their award-winning work.

The North Wales Photographic Association held an awards evening to celebrate the roll of honour of members who have won prestigious national and international distinctions and awards for merit over the past year, and three of those winners are from a camera club in Blaenau Ffestiniog, with another from Deudraeth’s group.

The focus of the awards evening was on the photographers themselves for a change, rather than their view of the world through a lens.

The evening included an exhibition of award-winning images awards at Llandudno Junction Community Club on Saturday.

Among the photographers who collected awards and distinctions are Peter Jepson, Steve Sims and Amanda Sims from Clwb Camera Blaenau Ffestiniog and Gwladys Roberts of Deudraeth Camera Club.

The NWPA is an umbrella group for 24 amateur camera clubs in north Wales and Anglesey, covering from Deeside and Wrexham to Llangefni and Llandudno to Welshpool. The clubs have their own programmes of meetings, competitions, talks and training.

NWPA president Andy Polakowski said: “I’m glad to report the NWPA has celebrated some tremendous success this year, with a number of photographers achieving excellent high standards recognised by their peers.

“We may be the UK’s smallest PAGB federation, but our members are making an impression with judges at home and abroad with their images.

“We would welcome photographers of any level who would like to become part of what we do by joining one of the local clubs who have a mix of members from beginners to improvers and more advanced photographers.”
