A BALA veterinary practice is being featured in a new television series.
The series is based in the Wern Vets practice, which serves Meirionnydd, Clwyd, Conwy and Flint and even further afield, from its two main offices in Bala and Ruthin.
From puppies needing vaccinations to cows in need of a caesarean, there’s always a pet or a farm animal to attend to and a Wern vet is always on hand to help.
Gwyneth Jones, a partner in the practice, is one of the people who features in the six-part documentary ‘Bywyd y Fet’.
She said: “We treat farm animals, pets and whatever else needs seeing; one of the vets was out last week to see a camel at Colwyn Bay Zoo!
“Vets often work long hours. Most of our vets work with pets in the morning and are out on farm visits during the afternoon. There is nothing glamorous about the job, especially the farm work!”
As well as offering a glimpse of the different types of cases the vets come across from day to day, the series also shows the vital role a farrier plays in rural communities across north east Wales. The farrier looks after the hooves of horses and keeps them pain-free and healthy.
Gwyneth added: “We employ local people and we know all our local clients so we have a close relationship with the local community.
“It’s vitally important we are on hand for the local farming community when they need us, especially during the busy seasons such as lambing time.”
In the first episode, airing on Thursday, 7 January, at 1.30pm, it’s lambing season in Bala and Dafydd the vet has plenty to do.
