Advice
BETWEEN 10am and 1pm on Mondays, a representative of the Citizens Advice Bureau will be at the library and between 2 and 4pm on Friday, a Macmillan support co-ordinator will be there. Both will be ready to give any relevant information and support where needed.
Sports
BLAENAU Amateurs were at Gaerwen on Saturday and are away again this week with a trip to Greenfield.The Reserves’ home match against Meliden was postponed and this Saturday they are home to Llanrwst Res. On the rugby front, Bro Ffestiniog XV, having had an impressive 48-0 win at Menai Bridge, have a tough home match on Saturday as they entertain league leaders Colwyn Bay.
Cymdeithas y Gorlan
THE NEXT meeting of Cymdeithas y Gorlan will be held at 7pm on 1 February at Bowydd Chapel. The guest speaker will be Rev Carwyn Siddall and his topic will be Ynys Llanddwyn.
Maenofferen Gallery
FROM 22 January, for four weeks, the Maenofferen Gallery will host a small selection of paintings dated 1974- 2015 by the London based Peter McNally, originally from Blaenau Ffestiniog. He has also recently had an exhibition of his work at Machynlleth Gallery and a few prints of his work have been on show at the Royal Cambrian Academy, Conwy.
Trains
DUE TO the considerable damage caused by the flooding to the Vale of Conwy rail tracks, it has been announced that there will be no trains between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Llandudno Junction for some time as work has commenced to repair the damage. In the meantime, a bus service is in place to ferry passengers.
Christmas
ON THURSDAY, 7 January, the Church of All Saints of Wales at Manod held it Christmas service, following the eve of the nativity of Christ the previous evening. Taking the services was the Very Reverend Archimandrite Father Deiniol. The Christmas Day service was the Nativity according to the Flesh of Our Lord and God and Saviour Jesus Christ, with service of the Third and Sixth Hours and the Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom. After the service, those present were invited to a Christmas feast at Rhiw Goch Hotel, Trawsfynydd.
Siop Siarad
THE LOCAL social group for Welsh learners, Siop Siarad, will be holding its first coffee morning of 2016 at 11am in the Bridge Café on Saturday, 23 January. All learners and fluent Welsh speakers are invited to come along for a cuppa and a chat.
Meetings
CLAIRE Davies of the Mid Wales Healthcare Collaborative will be meeting the Ffestiniog Memorial Hospital Defence Committee to discuss the collaborative’s plan and to stage two sessions at the Blaenau WI Hall on Tuesday, 9 February. Their aim is to hear from local patients and discuss ways in which the collaborative can improve provision in rural Wales. Also at that February meeting will be a repre-sentative of the Community Health Council. The defence committee are appealing to those who wish to make their complaints known to be present at these sessions the times of which will be made known nearer the date.
Cymdeithas Hanes
