The history of Porthmadog and Tremadog will be revealed next week by local historian and author, Martin Pritchard.
Martin will launch the third book in his popular series on Saturday, 5 September, at Y Ganolfan, by the harbour.
It’s over four years since the launch of Martin’s first book, Y Dyddiau Gynt yn Mhorthmadog a Thremadog (Past Times in Porthmadog & Tremadog).
Volume two was released in 2018 and now volume three is available in September.
The bilingual book focuses on different aspects of the areas, including many historical buildings in Porthmadog, such as the telephone exchange, Britannia Bridge and its toll house, Embankment toll house and Madog Memorial hospital.
Local pop groups in the 1960s also come under the spotlight, as does the standard gauge railway in Porthmadog.
“A section has been dedicated to four proud railway men from the town who worked on the railway for many years,” Martin said.
“No doubt many readers will recognize their names, even though they’re sadly no longer with us: Gwilym ’Bara’ Evans; Evie ’Signal Box’ Lloyd; Richard Meirion Jones (Dic Traws); and Merfyn Roberts.”
The book launch will take place between 11am and 1pm.
