Senior Citizens
AT THE first meeting in December, members enjoyed a Christmas tea prepared by the committee.
Instead of sending each other Christmas cards, members had a collection and made a donation of £92.30 to the Wales Air Ambulance. On Saturday, 5 December, they had a stall at the Charities Fair to raise funds for the group. Thursday, 10 December, saw members gathered at Llety Parc for the annual Christmas lunch. Following an excellent meal they welcomed a group of pupils from Penweddig Brass Band with their music teacher, Mr Phillips. The group accompanied the seniors’ carol singing. On 14 December a small group visited the Arts Centre for the afternoon performance by Ceredigion Schools Orchestra and Choir. Unfortunately the evacuation of the centre following a fire alarm meant a shortened programme, but members enjoyed the orchestral pieces and the singing by the choir. After the Christmas break they were back in Borth hall on 7 January for the first meeting of 2016. Members were delighted to learn that Joy Cook had been awarded a BEM in the New Year’s Honours in recognition of all her volountary work for the local community, including Borth Senior Citizens. Following a quiz and tea to celebrate the new year, a group photo was taken with Ella and Cyd surrounded by fellow members. The next meeting will be the AGM in the hall on 21 January.
