ON 21 January, president Ann welcomed members to the AGM. Betty, the chairperson, reported on a good year for the organisation, with a varied programme. She thanked everyone who had helped to keep things running during. Reports followed from the secretary and treasurer. The declaration of the committee for 2016 then took place, with the election of president and chairperson. Ann and Betty were re-elected. At the meeting on 4 February, Betty reported that members had been to the Warden’s pantomime Beauty and the Beast at the Arts Centre on 23 January and enjoyed an excellent production, saying it was the best panto yet. The following week, a group of members went to lunch at Ysgol Craig yr Wylfa, where they enjoyed a very good meal. Following the formation of the new committee, Betty told members that any committee member will be able to take the chair at meetings in future. She also informed the group that the constitution will be updated this year and the position of president will become an honorary post. The group then welcomed PCSO David Goffin who gave a talk on first aid and resuscitation with demonstrations. The government want first aid to be taught in schools and Dyfed-Powys will be the first police force to do this, with nine to 10-year-olds in Ceredigion. Members were informed there will shortly be three defibrillators available in Borth, with instructions for use to enable anyone to use these machines. The meeting ended with tea, biscuits and plenty of chatter. The next meeting will be on 18 February when Cllr Ray Quant will speak on Borth’s sea defences.
