A PASSENGER group has said it has “concerns” over outline multi-million-pound plans to reopen Bow Street train station, saying the money could be better spent elsewhere.

Residents were given the opportunity last week at a public consultation at Rhydypennau Hall to view the £5m plans and have their say on the proposed new railway station and transport hub, which followed years of campaigning and discussions between the Welsh Government, the Mid Wales Rail Implementation Group, Ceredigion County Council, and the rail industry.

After viewing the plans, the Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth Rail Passenger Association, said it had “concerns”.

“Firstly it appears as a stand-alone project and does not form part of any wider strategy for the Cambrian lines as a whole,” Albert Hall, secretary of SARPA said.

“It is unclear how it impacts on other proposed projects or operational matters that effect other users.

“Is it even the right scheme to be prioritised for the line as whole?”
