A PAIR of Thai boxers from Pwllheli will be flying the Welsh flag with pride in Bangkok next month as they compete against the world’s best.
Pictured here with coach Carl Rawlinson, Tali Casey, 17 and Alan Davies, 12, both from the Pwllheli area, will be travelling 6,000 miles to Bangkok in Thailand to compete in the Kru Muay Thai association games against 64 other countries.
This is the first time in the competition’s history that Wales has been represented.
Coach Kru Carl Rawlinson said: “The boys have been training very hard for this and competing in interclub competitions all over the north-west of the UK to get ready.
“They will have to get used to fighting in 35-plus degree heat, but they both have big hearts and will do us all proud.
“These two are the top fighters we have in our classes across Gwynedd.
“Tali has been involved in Muay Thai for six years and Alan about four years.
“They will be facing the world’s best and I think they do okay.
“Both have been involved in interclubs over the past few weeks and have won.”
In order to get the fighters to Thailand, a number of fundraising events have been held.
A raffle and bingo night is due to take place at Pwllheli Golf Club on Tuesday, 26 February, from 8pm.
