MORE than 20 businesses in Ceredigion and Montgomeryshire have been named finalists for the fourth annual Food Awards Wales 2018

A black-tie awards ceremony to announce the winners is due to be held on Monday, 23 April, at Cardiff’s Exchange Hotel.

Ceredigion businesses have received several nominations.

Ynyshir Restaurant with Rooms is nominated for Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year as well as the Restaurant of the Year Mid Wales award. Its head chef Gareth Ward has also been shortlisted for Chef of the Year.

The New Celtic Restaurant in Aberaeron has been shortlisted for Restaurant of the Year Mid Wales alongside sister restaurant The Cellar.

The manager of the New Celtic Restaurant, Iestyn Thomas, is also nominated for Restaurant General Manager of the Year.

El Salsa in Cardigan was shortlisted for Best Mexican Establishment; Yasmins Indian Restaurant in Newcastle Emlyn up for the Best Indian Establishment award; Aberystwyth’s Pysgoty nominated for Best Seafood Establishment; Swshi in Lampeter and Cardigan’s El Salsa finalists in the Best Street Food category; Bara Menyn in Cardigan up for Retail Bakery of the Year; Lampeter’s Watson & Pratt’s nominated for the Fresh Produce Provider of the Year award; Cardigan Bay Fish selected as a finalist for Seafood Supplier of the Year; Sophie’s in Aberystwyth shortlisted for Café/Bistro of the Year Mid Wales; and The Pentre Arms in Llangrannog and The Black Lion Hotel in New Quay both up for Gastro Pub of the Year Mid Wales.

Machynlleth businesses nominated are The Quarry Cafe for Best Vegetarian Establishment; The Green Goat Cafe for Best Street Food and Hennighan’s for Takeaway of the Year Mid Wales.

Evans Fish Bar in Llanidloes and Llanidloes Fish & Kebab Bar are both nominated for Takeaway of the Year Mid Wales; while The Great Oak Cafe in Llanidloes has been shortlisted for Café/Bistro of the Year Mid Wales.

The Lion Hotel in Llandinam and The Unicorn Hotel in Llanidloes have both been named finalists for the Hotel Restaurant of the Year Mid Wales category.
