A Corris-based company has been recognised by the Rural Business Awards.
Dyfi Distillery in Corris was shortlisted for the Best Rural Drink Business, going head-to-head with five other companies from across the UK.
And at a glittering awards ceremony on Thursday, 28 February, at the Chateau Impney Hotel and Exhibition Centre in Droitwich, the distillery was announced as runner-up to Hillside Brewery in Gloucestershire.
The Rural Business Awards were established in late 2014 by Jemma Clifford and Anna Price, two business owners who work in rural Leicestershire.
The first awards were presented in October 2015 and the RBAs are now entering their fifth year.
The awards are decided by an independent panel of judges drawn from the rural business sector, official agencies and rural charitable organisations.
The aim is to grow the Rural Business Awards to become the UK’s most prestigious and respected awards for rural businesses and to develop a strong network and community of rural business owners.
Director Danny Cameron, who runs the business with his brother Pete and their families, said: “We were very excited to win the regional stage of this prestigious competition, so to finish as the national runner-up was amazing.
“It was a great honour to represent Wales in this category, and to be joined on the evening by other brilliant Welsh businesses.”
