THE owners of a Llanfihangel-y-Creuddyn pub that was hit by fire have won the accolade of Best Traditional Country Pub in the Welsh Enterprise Awards.

Caitlin Morse and Lewis Johnston are currently overseeing rebuilding work at Y Ffarmers after a serious blaze in January, but have received a boost after the Welsh Enterprise Awards named Y Ffarmers as a winner in the Best Traditional Country Pub category of the 2018 awards.

Y Ffarmers has also been named as one of the top 15 ‘off the beaten track’ pubs in England and Wales in the i newspaper.

Caitlin said that the accolades were very welcome and showed the level of support the pub has following the fire.

Caitlin said: “I don’t really know what to say to be honest. We are of course delighted to win the award.

“It is so nice that, despite our obvious blip, people haven’t given up on us. We are still sent messages of support regularly and are told by so many people pretty much daily that they can’t wait for Y Ffarmers to reopen, and how much they miss the pub and the staff.

“We are assured that we will be open again later this year.”

“We also receive news that Sawday’s has featured us in the i paper as one of the top 15 ‘off the beaten track’ pubs in England and Wales.

“Everyone is so understanding that the fire has only damaged us temporarily and receiving news like this really helps us keep the momentum going in what has been a very difficult few months.”
