A CHWILOG student was the winner of a recent app competition which saw him develop a programme for competitors taking part in a triathlon.
The competition was held by Hunaniaith, an organisation that promotes the Welsh language in Gwynedd, who believe using apps is a progressive way to encourage the use of the language and get more people to produce Welsh language digital content.
The A-level students from Grwp Llandrillo Menai’s Pwllheli campus took part in the competition and are part of the Clwb Apps at their college. They were asked to devise and build a Welsh language Android app for smartphones and mobile devices.
The winner was Morgan Jones from Chwilog, who created an app for competitors taking part in a triathlon arranged by Plas Heli, the Welsh National Sailing Academy at Pwllheli.
Morgan said: “Creating this app was a real life experience as I was working with a real company and was creating something that was going to be used in the triathlon.
“I had to make sure it worked and was uber-friendly."
