Côr Aberteifi
WOULD you enjoy singing in a choir? Côr Aberteifi begin their autumn series of rehearsals on Monday, 5 September.
Practices are every Monday evening at Capel Mair from 7pm to 9pm.
The choir is preparing for a performance of Haydn’s Creation to be given at Rhosygilwen Manor on Sunday, 9 October. Written in 1798, this oratorio for voices and orchestra is considered to be one of the composer’s best works.
As always, the choir are eager to welcome new singers. Formed early this year, the choir have already given two packed-out concerts. One was a performance of Dvorák’s Mass in D major in St Mary’s Church, but the second was much lighter – a selection of popular opera choruses, given as part of the Opera Gala at Rhosygilwen in June. This mixture is typical of the choir’s plans for the future.
Musical director Henry Ward said: “We’re aiming for a varied repertoire: sacred, secular and seasonal. It’s a friendly and inclusive choir, with singers of all ages.”
After the October event, there will be more preparations for concerts of seasonal songs in December. If you would like to take part, visit the choir’s website at cor-aberteifi.org or call Alan on 01239 881752.
