CRICCIETH and Harlech castles are two of several historic sites in Wales to benefit from a £2.6m investment from Cadw - the Welsh Government’s historic environment service.
Criccieth Castle has received £450,000 in funding for “significant improvements to the visitor centre, including bespoke hands-on and digital interpretation”.
Cadw said: “Significant investment has been made in an aim to create a world-class visitor experience at the Castle and Visitor Centre at Criccieth.
“Developments include a complete redevelopment of the visitor centre and interactive hands-on and digital interpretation to tell the story of the Princes of Gwynedd dynasty.”
Work on the improvements is slated to be finished this summer.
Harlech castle, where work has been completed, received £30,000 to fit out the former visitor centre into a flexible education and community space.
That money was on top of the significant investment made at Harlech last year, which saw a new visitor centre and footbridge to provide access to the castle.
