National Gardens Scheme
THE CEREDIGION Branch of the National Gardens Scheme is delighted to invite members of the public to enjoy its first ever Winter Garden Open Day. Ty Glyn Davis Walled Garden in Ciliau Aeron will be holding a special event on Sunday, 14 February between noon and 3pm. There will be the opportunity to see massed plantings of snowdrops, dwarf irises and crocuses and established groups of hellebores, many of which are already showing their lovely blooms, in particular H x hybridus, H foetidus, H viridis and H argutifolius and in addition there are many shrubs and grasses that look fantastic during the winter months, brighten-ing up the short dark days with their coloured stems, interesting inflorescences and sweetly scented flowers. At this time of year, there’s not a great deal to do outside, so a visit to Ty Glyn is the perfect way to get some fresh air, admire the flowers and shrubs, have a romantic walk in lovely sur-roundings, after all, it is St Valentine’s Day, and just enjoy a foretaste of spring.Visitors will also have the benefit of knowing that their entrance fee to the garden of £3.50 (children have free admission) will be supporting caring and nursing charities including Carer’s Trust and Marie Curie Cancer Care. Hot drinks and home made cakes will be available.More information on Ty Glyn Davis Walled Garden and its interesting history can be found on their website www.tyglyndavistrust.co.uk.Details of all gardens opening for NGS can be found on www.ngs.org.uk.
