A family-owned Ceredigion restaurant is celebrating after being named among the nominees for the prestigious 2026 British Restaurant Awards.
Now in its eighth year, the British Restaurant Awards recognise restaurants and food businesses across the UK, with Y Seler being nominated in the Best Restaurant in Wales category.
What makes the awards particularly special is that the nominations are entirely driven by the public. Rather than being selected by a closed judging panel, every restaurant on the shortlist has been nominated by real diners and customers.
For the team at Y Seler, being recognised by the people who have visited, eaten and shared experiences at the restaurant makes the nomination especially meaningful.
Llyr Thomas, Owner of Y Seler said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been nominated in the Best Restaurant in Wales category, alongside so many fantastic restaurants from across Wales & the UK. To know that someone who has visited Y Seler took the time to put us forward makes this recognition incredibly special to our whole team. Hospitality is about creating experiences and memories for people, so having that recognised by our customers means a huge amount to us.”
For Y Seler, the nomination is also a wonderful opportunity to shine a light not only on the restaurant itself, but on the incredible food, hospitality and independent restaurant scene found here in Wales.
Public voting is open now at britishrestaurantawards.org/voting.
Y Seler faces stiff competition in the Wales category with another Ceredigion restaurant, Yr Hen Printworks, also competing for the title.
The other restaurants shortlisted are FIR by Matt Simpson in Hay on Wye; The Potted Pig in Cardiff; Gorse Pontacanna, Cardiff; The Whitebrook in Monmouthshire; The Jackdaw in Conwy; Annwn in Pembrokeshire; Heaneys in Cardiff; Sosban and the Old Butchers at Menai Bridge and the Beach House in Oxwich.
