Peter, the floppy-eared crossbred rabbit who thinks he is a sheep, is among the stars of a new BBC One Wales series, The Secret Life of Farm Animals, which starts next Wednesday.
The cherished pet of the Cockburn family, who run Treberfedd Farm Holidays Cottages at Dihewyd, Peter likes nothing better than to frolic in a field with a ewe and her triplets, in scenes straight out of of a Beatrix Potter novel.
“Peter’s a real character,” farmer Jack Cockburn, a dad-of-three, told the Cambrian News. “Although he’s a pet he kept escaping from his hutch and would go over to the lambing shed to hang out with the sheep – he was very persistent.
“It was really funny watching him interact with lambs in the field. He’s laid-back and docile – basically a friendly bunny who thinks he’s a sheep!
“Peter’s been a really good pet for our children – he comes into the farmhouse and sits on the sofa and is really good pals with our sheepdog – he never seems to be fazed by anything.”
Peter features in the third episode of The Secret Life of Farm Animals, which begins on BBC One Wales at 8pm on Wednesday, 23 January.
