A charity car run in Machynlleth has raised over £5,000 for charity.

The second Machrun took place on Sunday, 29 September, and was organised by Plant i managing director, Jason McAuley.

The first Machrun took place last year and Jason decided it was too successful not to repeat.

“Not only are we helping a great charity, but we are putting Machynlleth on the map for a great annual event, with people travelling in from all over the UK,” he said.

This year’s event raised just over £5,750, minus £324 for the use of Powys County Council’s Maengwyn car park.

Bad weather threatened to affect the run, but Jason said it was still a great success.

“Despite the flooding around 250 cars turned up in force to raise money for the air ambulance,” he said.

“Some people travelled from Scotland and others from Kent just to take part in the event.

“We had a last minute route change due to the bridge in Machynlleth being closed, but the day as a whole was a great success.

“We will be looking to open booking for Machrun20 at the end of the month.”
