Madam,

I do so agree with Sandy Neville’s letter last week (‘Who would want to spend a day with roadworks and rubbish?’).

The flowers, as always, are lovely in Aberystwyth but what’s the point when the streets and footpaths are absolutely filthy, with rubbish strewn about everywhere and, if not rubbish, it is cigarette butts?

Whenever I come to town, any day, you are stepping over the rubbish or in it. It’s such a shame as visitors who bring a lot of money into Aberystwyth are not going to come back.

I have visited other coastal towns which have seagulls and I am always impressed by the cleanliness.

If we want tourists to come back to Aberystwyth then something needs to be done to clean it up.

Yours etc,

Lavinia Edwards,
