The award for Best Instrumentalist at the Gwobrau’r Selar music awards was this year sponsored by Coleg Ceredigion, and the awards were designed by University of Wales Trinity Saint David students.

The event, which is now in its third year, celebrates and recognises the best in Welsh music.

Held at Aberystwyth University Students’ Union, the event was attended by a glittering array of stars from the Welsh music scene, music fans and the media.

“Coleg Ceredigion is proud to support this fantastic event that celebrates the best in Welsh music,” said Rhys Huws, from Coleg Ceredigion, who presented the Best Instrumentalist award to Gwilym Bowen Rhys.

“This is the third year we’ve sponsored Gwobrau’r Selar and it’s great for Ceredigion to be able to host one of the most important nights in the Welsh music scene.

“We’re proud to be able to support a new generation of artists and help nurture our thriving music scene.”

In addition to Coleg Ceredigion’s sponsorship, University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s art and design department designed and created the trophies for this year’s awards.

Coleg Ceredigion is a subsidiary company of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and both partners were delighted to support the awards.

Gwenllian Beynon,  co-ordinator of Welsh: Art and Design at UWTSD, said: “We were delighted to be able to work with Gwobrau’r Selar again this year.

“It was an amazing opportunity for the students last year and I was really happy to see the awards displayed at the National Eisteddfod.

“This was once again, a great opportunity for our students to work on real projects.”
