Councillors in Aberdyfi are getting their hands dirty in a bid to brighten the village and save the tax payers some money.
Aberdyfi Community Council has decided to take over the biannual planting of the Wharf Gardens and Penhelyg Park.
Chairman of Aberdyfi Community re-planting sub-committee Bryn Lloyd, said: “We received a grant from Aberdyfi Advertising and Improvements Committee and decided to set up a sub-committee to take on this project.
“It was agreed that perennials would be the ideal solution as they would require low maintenance. It was great to see the many willing volunteers from the community who came along to help carry out the task.
“Despite the wrath of storm Hannah, the volunteers worked strenuously over two weekends to get the work done and it has now transformed the Wharf Gardens. Already many visitors and locals have congratulated the team on the tremendous efforts made.
“As chairman of the sub-committee I would like to thank everyone involved in this project for all their hard work and effort and also to all the local businesses who kept the team going with refreshments and support. It was most welcome and it is encouraging to see how a project like this can bring the community together.”
