THE annual Dydd G?yl Dewi Sant celebration was held at the Sports Club where members were welcomed by president Eleanor Evans.
Business matters were quickly concluded and members had a delicious meal of cawl and apple pie, very much enjoyed by all.
President Eleanor then introduced the speaker – Bronwen Morgan who had been chief executive for Ceredigion County Council before retiring. She gave a most interesting and amusing talk on Welsh Myths and Legends from past times, which have passed into folk-lore. Some even match similar myths found in Brittany. She included tales of animals sensing forthcoming deaths, and “knockers” warning of impending mining accidents. No explanations have so far been found for these events.
Jacqui Thomas gave the vote of thanks and Sylvia Williams won the raffle. The competition for a Welsh emblem was won by Gloria Davies.
The April meeting will be held in the British Legion Hall, when Margaret Griffiths will give a demonstration on Easter cooking.
