Aeron Valley Railway Society
THE society met last Wednesday evening at the Legion Hall when they were entertained by Denis Bates with an illustrated talk on the Great Northern Railway (Ireland).
Denis has a wealth of knowledge on this and gave a very interesting and informative talk on aspects of its history, its interspersed with some personal anecdotes.
In the second half, he focused on a superb model railway based on the GNR(I) called Adavoyle Junction.
Denis had an appreciable involvement with this layout which was built to the highest standards and which operated superbly, as the footage they saw of its working went to prove. The whole evening proved to be very enjoyable for those present.
The next meeting of the society will be the Christmas meal which has been booked at the Monachty for 18 December at 7.30pm.
The next meeting after that will be on Wednesday, 15 January at 7.30pm.
It will be a members’ evening when everyone is invited to bring along illustrated material for the benefit of the other members.
Slides, photographs, DVDs and memory sticks can be accommodated.
The meeting will be held in the usual venue of the Royal British Legion Hall.
Visitors and prospective new members will be welcome.
