Cymdeithas Aberaeron
THE Cymdeithas Aberaeron Society series of talks begins on Tuesday, 20 September in Tabernacl vestry at 7.30pm.
Jon Meirion Jones will give a talk on the world famous church built by Italian prisoners of war in a nissen hut at the Henllan PoW camp.
Bard and author of 10 books, Jon was the headmaster of both Ysgol y Ferwig and St Dogmaels School. He is descended from the Cilie family through his father Jac Alun and has been the secretary of Capel y Wig, Llangrannog for 35 years.
The talk will be in Welsh with simultaneous translation. At 6.30pm prior to the talk the society will hold its AGM.
Tractor run
THE annual Aberaeron and District Charity Tractor Run saw an excellent turn out again this year with over 100 tractors of all ages, makes and sizes taking part from far and wide.
One intrepid entrant had driven from Crosshands, taking a little over three hours.
There was a spectacle of sound, smell and vision as they drove along Aberaeron’s main street.
The close-to-record entry should mean a very healthy donation to this year’s chosen charities, Calonnau Cymru - Welsh Hearts and the Kidney Dialysis Unit at Bronglais.
