Aberdyfi Players’ Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Aberdyfi Players 2017 panto Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs received standing ovations on Saturday after the last performance of the six shows which were held over two weekends.
Chairman of Aberdyfi Players, Louis Hiatt, said: “Our panto definitely seems to be becoming more and more popular every year. Our audiences have been fantastic with sell out performances almost every night - our last weekend was completely sold out for every show.
“There have been a few changes this year and we have welcomed new people backstage, to our production team and also on stage. One of our biggest changes was in ticketing, so I’d like to thank everyone for adapting so well to our new online ticketing.
“Many have said that this year’s panto has been the ‘best ever’ - and we at Aberdyfi Players are very proud about that - especially because the panto this year was dedicated to Pam Williams, who sadly passed away in December last year. Pam had been with Aberdyfi Players for 24 years, and was an integral art of the panto and will be sadly missed by all.
“We have had such a good time over the last few months preparing and then performing our panto Snow White and we are always sad when it all comes to an end. Everyone puts in lots of hard work, but we always have great fun too and are glad that our audiences seem to enjoy our shows as much as we do!
“We have a great wealth of talent in our community and we welcome anyone who would like to come and join us in Aberdyfi Players - we can find a role for everyone!
“After a well deserved rest we shall start thinking about our next panto - so we look forward to seeing everyone again in 2018!"
Women’s Institute
THE Women’s Institute met at Neuadd Dyfi on 25 January.
President Elaine Foote welcomed members and visitors and wished members who were unwell a speedy recovery.
The guest speaker was the photographer Jean Napier who gave a most interesting talk on ‘The Old Ways’ Drovers Roads and Goldmines of Rhinog.
The Drovers travelled from this part of Wales to England to sell their livestock. The routes they took were through wild and windswept countryside.
The group was shown photographs of the ruins of the routes, the accommodation and the shelters they had taken. The group was also shown the ruins of the old Clogau gold mine near Dolgellau.
The competition was won by Muriel Lycett and the raffle won by Joy Goddard.
The next meeting will be the 90th Birthday Party of the Aberdovey WI on 22 February.
