Remembrance Sunday
WITH contractors working full- time to build the new centre on the memorial hospital site, there are concerns locally if that part of the site will be clear and safe for the Remembrance Sunday wreath-laying ceremony, which has always been held there. With that in mind, the Hospital League of Friends will contact the contractors and the town council on the matter. In the meantime, the local British Legion branch has confirmed that the site will be clear for the wreath-laying ceremony on Remembrance Sunday.Wildlife THE town council has agreed to a request from Dref Werdd on behalf of the Bro Ffestiniog allotments committee for a letter of support for their application for grant funding from CIST towards the costs of establishing a community wildlife garden at their site.
Choirs
ON Friday evening, Côr y Moelwyn, conducted by Sylvia Ann Jones and accompanist Wenna Francis Jones were in concert at Betws y Coed, with Gareth Griffiths the compere. This Saturday, Sylvia will be conducting the ladies Rhiannedd y Moelwyn choir as they will be competing at the North Wales Choral Festival at The Venue, Llandudno, the ladies choir event they won last year.

THE council has been informed that an application has been made for funding towards the cost of installing CCTV cameras at Siop y Gloddfa on Church Street.

GWENAN Williams o Morfa Nefyn oedd gwraig gwadd Clwb Merched. Rhoddodd hanes ‘Bywyd Gwyllt Glaslyn’ sef yn bennaf Gwilch y Pysgod a’r warchodfa sydd iddynt wrth bont Llanfrothen, a hefyd y gwaith diflino gan y gwirfoddolwyr i gadw yr adar yn saff. Gwesteion y te oedd Christine ac Eirlys a rhodd y raffl gan Lowri ac enillwyd gan Ceris.
Bendigedig
THE group has announced that there will be no fireworks display this year, but they are preparing for the town’s switching on of the Christmas lights, which will take place on Thursday, 1 December.
Mongolia rally
THREE Blaenau Ffestiniog men (pictured) have raised £6,000 for cancer research after taking part in the Mongolia Rally. On 13 August, three members of Hogiau Llechen Las - Conoire Cann, Steven Williams and Iwan Cynfal Williams arrived home after their epic car journey in Mongolia. A total of 250 cars took part in what was a fundraising journey, and the three were sixth to arrive at their destination. The trio has raised a sum of £6,000 for Macmillan cancer charity, and they are thankful to all who supported their fundraising efforts.

NOS Lun, 24 Hydref, daeth yr aelodau ynghyd yn y Ganolfan Gymdeithasol o dan lywyddiaeth Ceinwen. Cymerwyd funud i gofio am drychineb Aberfan, ac atgoffwyd mai hwy oedd i gynorthwyo gyda phlygu rhifyn Tachwedd o ‘Llafar Bro’. Cafwyd enwau ar gyfer dau dîm i gystadlu yn rhanbarth Meirion o’r cwis cenedlaethol ar 11 Tachwedd yn neuadd Llanelltyd. Cafwyd sgwrs hynod o ddifyr a hwyliog gan Carys Edwards o Ganllwyd am ‘Fyd y Gwenyn’. Erbyn hyn mae’n cadw rhwyng 60 a 70 o gychod gwenyn yn ardal Meirionnydd, gan obeithio ehangu gydag amser i’r cannoedd gan gynhyrchu nid yn unig mêl, ond polish, canhwyllau, medd ac eli llesol i’r croen. Mae hefyd yn gystadleuydd o fri gyda’i mêl mewn amrywiol sioeau gan gynnwys Sioe Frenhinol, Llanelwedd, ble’r enillodd yn 2009 12 gwobr gyntaf, chwe ail a chwe drydedd, yr unig un erioed i ennill cymaint o wobrau ar un tro. Erbyn hyn mae hefyd wedi cymhwyso i fod yn feirniad mêl. Ar y diwedd bu cryn dipyn o fwynhau a phrofi mêl o flodau gwahanol blanhigion, a llawer un wedi prynu potyn ar gyfer y gaeaf. Enillydd cystadleuaeth y mis oedd Marian, gydag eitem Ceinwen yn ail a Megan yn drydydd. Bydd y cyfarfod nesaf, 28 Tachwedd, pryd y cawn sgwrs gan aelod o’r Dref Werdd.
