Kelly’s Kats coffee morning

ON Saturday, 1 September, Kelly’s Kats’ supporters held a coffee morning in the Old Mill, by invitation of Sharon McCready.

There was a raffle, tombola, stalls, and activities such as ‘guess the name of the bear’ and face painting.

Coffee and cake was served.

A total of £560 was raised for Kelly’s Kats, towards paying for treatment for the many injured, stray and unwanted cats found in mid Wales and for neutering to prevent the birth of kittens.

Côr Llanwnog Choir

THE choir ended their year with a rehearsal followed by supper at the Unicorn in Caersws.

Chair Angela Swindell looked back on the year and presentations were made to conductor, Graham Marshman and accompanist Barbara Powell.

Regular rehearsals resume on 6 September, in Clatter Village Hall at 7.30pm.

Côr Llanwnog Choir sang in two concerts in August, first being the Gymanfa Canu, the Opening Concert of the Machynlleth Festival.

Then they gave a concert in St Gwynog’s Church, Llanwnog as part of the Summer Arts Festival to raise funds for the Restoration and Development of St Gwynog’s Church and this was very well received by all.

Italian evening

HOSTED by friends of Llanidloes High School for the benefit of the school, there will be an Italian evening on Saturday, 8 September, 7pm, at the rugby club, Smithfield Street.

There will be a two-course meal, live music, a bar and raffle.

Tickets will be £15 per person from Woosnam and Davies Newsagents, reception at the High School or call Emily on 07805 511619.

Noah’s Ark charity concert

ADVANCE notice has been given of the next concert for the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Appeal.

The concert will take place at the rugby club, Smithfield Street, on Friday, 12 October, starting at 7pm.

Friends Together

YOU are invited to join everyone on the second Wednesday of each month at St Idloes Church Hall, 2pm-2.30pm, or any part of that time. Come in, meet friends, have a cup of tea, open to everyone of all ages.

Millennium Garden

THE Llanidloes Millennium Garden is a garden maintained by volunteers.

They are looking for more volunteers to join the group.

They meet in the garden on Friday mornings, 9am until 10am, (weather permitting).

Rotary club

THE defibrillator training day will take place on Saturday, 15 September.

The club has sponsored the defibrillator unit located opposite the Spar store and beside the premises of Llani Leisure for the last two years and during this time this life-saving device has been used to help at least 10 people.

Throughout the summer the roundabout to the north of the town has had a striking floral display sponsored by Rotary and expertly maintained by Bob Smith of the Parks Department.

Meanwhile, Rotarians are preparing for the start of another busy calendar of events.
