Quilt Association

2019 marks a milestone in the history of the Quilt Association as it is now 25 years since the very first major summer exhibition of antique quilts in Llanidloes. This year’s exhibition, Silver Threads, will feature a diverse selection of quilts from the association’s own collection, some of which were made locally and donated by local families or those with connections to the area.

The exhibition opens at the Minerva Arts Centre on Saturday, 3 August and runs until 7 September.

Open from Monday to Saturday between 10.30am and 4.30pm, admission is free.

Also on show will be some small contemporary pieces inspired by those on display, made by the Turning Point Art Textiles group and QA Trustees.

There will also be a display of quilts by the contemporary art textiles group Tangent Textiles.

Chris Shercliff, a trustee of the association, said: “Our summer exhibitions attract visitors from all over the UK and beyond. We want to show the variety of quilts we have in the collection which has been built up over the last 25 years. The different fabrics, fillings, techniques and stitching patterns used truly do make each quilt unique.”
