THE latest community news from Llanidloes.
Idloes Seniors
IDLOES Seniors has announced that it is having to close operations forthwith. This is due to a big drop in the number of members, and the number of members attending meetings has dropped considerably. The main consideration, however, is the inability to find anyone to replace the chairman, Charles Stephens, and the secretary, Alan Crisp, who are both retiring due to ill-health. Their retirement was announced at the AGM in May but, unfortunately, no-one has come forward. The chairman would like to thank all those who have helped in any way, setting up the room, providing tea and biscuits after the meeting and providing raffle prizes each month. Special thanks are extended to all the speakers who turned up each month without charge, to entertain.Rotary THE Rotary Club enjoyed an informative speech at their last meeting from fellow Rotarian and assistant district governor, Peter McCready. The speech was an interesting insight to the world of business continuity and the devastating reality large businesses can face from natural disasters and acts of terrorism. Peter works as part of a global team who advise companies on strategic plans to ensure their data is secure if the worst was to happen. The club could relate to Peter’s topic and many Rotarians voiced personal stories at the end of the presentation. Peter was thanked by the club and many remarked that they now understood why he spent so much time abroad. If you would like to be at the next speakers evening, then contact one of your local Rotarians or message them via their Facebook page.
