Rotary club
LLANIDLOES Rotary Club conducted their first business meeting of the year in the presence of assistant district governor Hywel Williams.
The club was praised by Hywel for its outstanding efforts during 2016. Some of these efforts are by volunteers who step in to help the Rotary during the year, allowing the club to take on larger commitments.
As a sign of appreciation the club will host its annual thank you evening on 25 January in the rugby club. Everyone who has helped in some way will be treated to a carvery meal with entertainment provided by the Radnor Twurzels.
Looking ahead President John Cradduck confirmed that the local Co-op has kindly agreed for the club to conduct their Purple Crocus Polio collection in the Supermarket on Friday, 24 February.
This collection will be followed in March by the Pendyrus Choir concert, with all profits going towards Rotary good causes. Tickets for the concert are available from any Rotarian or from Woosnam and Davies newsagents, priced at £10.
Llanidloes Rotary Club is looking forward to its next meeting when it will go head to head at home against The Rotary Club of Llangollen in the second round of the Rotary District Quiz.
Local retired school teacher John Breeze has kindly accepted to take on the role of quiz master after being nominated by the whole club.
