Silly Saturday

HAVE a silly Saturday to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer.

Join Rudolph on a stroll, a shimmy or a sprint at 11am Saturday, 16 December, at Llanidloes High School Grounds.

Under 16s £3, over 16s £5.

Entries close 8 December.

No entries on the day.

Concert

THERE will be a Christmas Concert at Llanidloes Baptist Church at 7pm, Friday, 8 December, doors open at 6.30pm.

Hosted by Huw Jones, it features Sing With Us Llanidloes Choir, David Hilliard, guitarist, Harriet Earis, harpist, Zac Evans, cornist. To get your tickets call Tiffany Evans 07776 762036.

RAFA wings appeal

THIS year the appeal raised a fantastic £2662.42.

The branch wishes to thank all the collectors, the premises that allowed collections and the public who gave so generously.

This year the Newtown ATC collected on the street in Newtown and supported Llanidloes so thanks go to them as well.

Fundraising concert

LLANIDLOES Community Centre will host a fundraising concert on Friday, 24 November, 7.30pm.

Côr Meibion Machynlleth perform with Llidiartywaen and Trefeglwys YFC’s, Ian and Roland Davies and Rob Evans.

The compere will be Roger Hughes.

Proceeds to RWAS Montgomeryshire feature County Appeal 2018.

Country champions

J AND K Higgs of Cwmfron Farm, Tylwch, won the Country Champion for Wales 2017 in the Traditional Carpet Fleece Category.

Also, Newtown Wool depot was voted Depot of the Year 2017.

Van whist

VAN Institute Whist Drives are on Tuesday, 21 November; Tuesday, 5 December and Tuesday, 19 December (Poultry).

All start at 8pm. Everyone welcome.

Gardening Club

LLANIDLOES and District Gardening Club held the first meeting of its new year on 24 October, with a talk by Daniel Hodgkiss from the Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust.

He spoke about the ways to encourage wildlife in our gardens with the four principles of providing food, water, shelter and breeding places.

At the next meeting on 28 November the guest speaker is Kristian Hickson Booth who will talk about the life and work of Jimmy Hancock, ‘the Welsh Wizard’, and his influences on the gardens at Powys Castle.

The club meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Elephant Inn, Longbridge Street at 7.30pm.

New members and visitors welcome - annual membership is £5 and for a speaker, £3 on the night.

ON Wednesday, 22 November, at 2pm there will be a talk in the Minerva Arts Centre by Ruth Issett on the subject of ‘A Passion For Colour’.

Arwystli Society

THERE will be a talk by Penri Roberts on ‘The Shows of Cwmni Maldwyn Theatre Company’ at St Idloes Church Hall, 7.30pm on Wednesday, 22 November.

Bingo

AT Llanidloes Rugby Club on Wednesday 22 November at 7.30pm, eyes down at 8pm, 50p entry for adults includes tea/coffee and a biscuit.

Proceeds are in aid of the public conveniences in Llanidloes.
