The Olive and The Wall
SAWIYA Friendship Association present ‘The Olive and the Wall’, an illustrated talk by Sylvia Ruxton of a trip to the Palestinian West Bank, visiting olive and date farmers, refugee camps and illegal settlements.
It’s held on Friday, 26 January, at 7.30pm, at the Old Mill. Free entry. Palestinian goods on sale.
Mountains and more
THERE will be a meeting at The Minerva Arts Centre, Llanidloes, on 8 February from 10am until midday, concerning the development of the Cambrian Mountains, the prosperous future of the mountains and the communities involved around them, getting ready to make the Cambrian Mountains a world famous destination and it being a great place to visit and live in.

Medieval History lectures
DR David Stephenson’s Medieval History lectures resume on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 16 and 17 January.
The subject for the term will be Medieval Towns of mid-Wales.
Lectures will take place in The Mount Inn on Tuesday evenings at 7pm-9pm, or on Wednesday afternoons at 2pm-4pm.
Angling AGM
LLANIDLOES and District Angling Association AGM will be held on Tuesday, 23 January at the Town Hall, 7.30pm.
Dementia-Friendly

Mini Assembly
LLANIDLOES Rotary Club recently conducted a mini assembly in the presence of assistant district governor Richard Withers.
Vice president John Selwyn Smith chaired the assembly in the absence of president Stephen Meyer.
John welcomed Richard to Llanidloes before explaining some of the club’s highlights over the last six months and announcing the club’s plans for the rest of the Rotary year.
Club secretary Tony Thorn went into greater detail listing every donation made to charities such as the Alzheimer’s Society, ShelterBox and Rekindle to name but a few.
Tony explained the Rotarians’ commitments to the annual Across Wales Walk and the visiting Wales Rally GB, and the thank you evening the club hosts to thank friends of Rotary.
John thanked rotarian Paul Jones for boosting the club’s public relations and showed the assistant district governor some of the articles Paul had recently produced on behalf of the club.
Richard congratulated the club on its achievements and delivered a speech on where the club should aim to be in the ever-evolving world.
