Community council

THE council met on 6 March to discuss the correspondence and matters raised by the community.

Ceredigion council is in the process of replacing the bus shelters in Llanrhystud and wanted permission to replace the brick bus shelter in Heol Islwyn with a new aluminium one. Permission was granted.

Natural Resources Wales had replied to say that it did not believe that there was an increased risk of flooding on the River Wyre caused by the large boulders being washed down stream due to the break up of the weir by the ford.

Highways had replied to say that the section of Church Street from its junction with the A487 to Tanllan had been entered into the resurfacing programme for consideration and prioritisation against other schemes. The section from Tanllan to Pengarreg is not a metalled road, it will be referred to the area office for repair according to the council’s policy.

A site meeting was scheduled at Joppa on Thursday, 14 March, at 2pm to discuss the future of the street light.

Letters were received from Llanddeiniol Church, Llanrhystud Church, Lynn Morris, Llanddeiniol Community Association and Air Ambulance Wales thanking the community council for the donations. A further donation of £200 was made towards the local fund for the Eisteddfod Genedlaethol 2020.

The community council decided to continue membership of One Voice Wales.

Permission was given to pay the Welsh Audit Office £203.50 for carrying out the external audit for 2017/18 and to pay Calico £64.80 for the use of the domain name www. cyngorcymunedllanrhystud and the email clerk@cyngorcymunedllan rhystud.com for the next three years.

Gwilym Hughes, deputy director of Cadw, will meet with the community council and other interested parties in Llanrhystud Memorial Hall on 22 March at 10.30am to discuss the Cofiwch Dryweryn wall.

The meeting on 6 March closed with a discussion of safety on the B4387 especially for those walking to and from school. Photographs of the volume of traffic between 8am and 9am were discussed. Cllr. Rees-Evans is in discussions with Ceredigion council and will update the community councils on these discussions at the next meeting.

Next meeting will be 3 April at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall.
