Remembrance help wanted
MACHYNLLETH branch of the Royal British Legion is looking for poppy sellers for two weeks, 27 October to 10 November in the Machynlleth Co-op store.

MACHYNLLETH and District Garden Club will hold an afternoon tea at Y Plas on Tuesday, 16 October, at 2.30pm.

Condry lecture
THE 10th annual MOMA Machynlleth William Condry Memorial Lecture, in memory of the much-loved naturalist and conservationist (1918-1998), will be given by Welsh naturalist and TV presenter Iolo Williams at the Tabernacle, Heol Pen’rallt, on Saturday, 13 October.
Doors open at 7pm and the lecture begins at approximately 7.45pm. Tickets are £5 on the door, with refreshments included.

UNDER delegated powers, in the period 6-21 September, Powys County Council planners approved the following applications in the Machynlleth area.
Conservation Area Consent for the demolition of extensions in connection with proposed refurbishment/erection of new extensions, Ysbyty Cymunedol Bro Dyfi Community Hospital, Machynlleth; demolition of existing extension, proposed construction of new replacement extension with landscape/engineering works and proposed new ancillary building, Star Inn, Dylife; change of use of part of ground floor from shop to residential, 2 Brynhyfryd, Cwmllinau.
Midday talks
TO accompany MOMA’s current exhibitions, the ever-popular free midday marker day talks continue at the Tabernacle Machynlleth with a series of artists’ talks starting on Wednesday, 10 October, when Terence takes centre stage.
On Wednesday, 17 October, David Anning, RSPB site manager will give a presentation on RSPB Ynyshir.
Then, completing the current programme, artists Owen Williams (24 October) and Kevin Blockley (21 November) will talk about their art.
Hurricanes AGM
MACHYNLLETH Hurricanes Junior Football Club held their 2018/19 AGM at the bowling club on Sunday, 30 September.
Following a warm welcome from chairman Wil Lloyd Williams, and officers’ reports, the following officers were elected for the forthcoming 12 months: chairman, Wil Lloyd Williams; vice-chairman, Warren Evans; joint secretaries, Ceri Callow and Glenys Halls; joint treasurers, Janet and Julie Humphreys and welfare officer, Julie Price.
The meeting saw long-serving retiring treasurer Petra Evans (12 years) and retiring secretary Tim Roberts (six years) step down from their positions.
Both were thanked for their long service to the club.
A committee meeting will take place later this month when the Welsh Football Trust will attend and to which all coaches, helpers, parents and carers are welcome to attend.
