Pupils’ concert
ON Wednesday, 24 July, the Tabernacle was the venue for a high-quality concert given by young piano pupils of well-respected Chris Dendy.
Introduced by Chris, pupils Cerys Hickman (piano and harp), Begw ap Dafydd (piano) and Max Andrews (piano) performed a varied and exciting programme of works that delighted the appreciative audience.
Following the free concert and words of thanks to all involved from Chris Dendy, a collection was made in aid of the Tabernacle Education Foundation.
Since its formation in 1995 the Tabernacle Educational Foundation has succeeded in supporting dozens of talented young people of the Dyfi Valley. Awards from the Foundation, which offers a maximum sum of £500, are offered annually in July to students progressing from secondary education to a high-level course of Arts subject.
The purpose of the award is to assist students with the purchase of materials or books at the start of their course. To qualify for an award the applicant must live in an area bounded by the Dyfi Valley but including Aberdyfi and Tywyn.
To apply for an award students must write a letter, by mid-July in any year, to the Tabernacle stating their qualifications for an award and enclosing a CV together with letters of support from their teachers.
Successful applicants will be invited to the Tuesday evening concert at the Machynlleth Festival when the awards will be presented by a member of the trust.
