Runs for beginners

A NEW year brings fresh opportunities for raising your fitness levels.

If you’re looking to sign up to do 0-5k, you can meet with this group on Sunday mornings.

This is a great way to give and receive encouragement and motivate.

The group is self-led using Cletwr, Tre’r-ddôl as a meeting point.

Dyfi U3A

MEMBERS of Dyfi U3A (University of the Third Age) will meet at the bowling club on Friday, 17 January, at 2pm.

The guest speaker, Dee Matthews, will give a talk entitled ‘The 30th Lady Airline Pilot’.

U3A meets at the local bowling club on the third Friday of each month from 2pm to 4pm.

The annual membership fee is £15, decreasing gradually through the ensuing months.

Council meeting

MACHYNLLETH Town Council’s first ordinary monthly meeting of the year will be held at Y Plas on Monday, 27 January, at 6.30pm.

Formal notice of the meeting will be affixed to the council’s noticeboards in front of the town library and Y Plas foyer.

Members of the public and press are most welcome to attend.

Rotary club

THE Rotary Club of Machynlleth concluded another successful year with the Santa Sleigh, bringing delight to both young and old alike.

After the mayor attended the lighting of the town tree event, visits were made to pre-school nurseries, older folk both in homes and hospital, village Christmas events and market day as well as local stores, all of which gave their full support.

The members wish to thank all for donating over £1,800 to the Benevolent fund.

Hear to Help

DO you wear a hearing aid(s)?

Go along to the free walk-in clinic at Y Plas on the first Friday of every month between 10am and noon.

Re-tuning, batteries, cleaning and information.

Anyone with NHS hearing aids is welcome. If your aid is not from Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth then there’s a chance there may not be a spare part for it, but you can still get free batteries and advice.

Civic society

MACHYNLLETH and District Civic Society’s executive committee will be holding its first bi-monthly meeting of the year at the Tabernacle, Heol Pen’rallt, on Thursday, 16 January, starting at 7pm.

All members of the society are entitled to attend.
