Bowls AGM

MACHYNLLETH Bowling Club will hold its AGM in the clubhouse on Thursday (14 December) at 7pm.

Council Meeting

MACHYNLLETH Town Council is holding its last ordinary monthly meeting in 2017 at Plas Machynlleth on Monday (18 December) at 6.30pm.

Formal notice of the meeting will be placed on the council’s two notice boards outside the town library and the Plas foyer.

Members of the public and press are welcome to attend.

Carol Service

HOLY Trinity Church Corris extends a warm welcome to all to a carol service on Sunday, 17 December, at 9.30am.

Cancer AGM

MEMBERS of the Machynlleth and District Committee of North West Cancer Research met in the bowling club for their AGM and members heard of yet another successful year of fundraising which saw £3,700 donated for vital research at Bangor, Liverpool and Lancaster universities.

The following members were elected to serve as officers and committee for the next 12 months: chairman, Geraint Jones; vice-chairman, Karyl Davies; secretary, Meinir Davies; treasurer, Alwena Price; press/publicity, Michael Williams.

The committee members elected for the year are: Eluned Besent, Eryl Evans, Margaret Evans, Alice Hughes Anwen Hughes, Hilda Humphreys, Ann Lloyd Jones, Bronwen Jones, Catrin Jones, Ann Owen, Ann Parry, Olwen Roberts and Margaret Wilson.

Initial arrangements were made for two annual events, namely, the street/house-to-house collection on 5 to 11 August and the coffee morning on Saturday, 6 October.

Christmas carols

THE Friends of the Machynlleth Tabernacle have arranged an afternoon of Christmas carols on Sunday (17 December), 3.30pm. There will be tea, mulled wine and mince pies and a raffle.

Admission is free, all welcome.
