Ladies Club

CEINWEN, a staff member from the Citizens Advice Bureau explained that CAB was formed in 1939, at a recent meeting of the Ladies Club. Today there are four offices in Gwynedd manned by a small team of paid staff and numerous volunteers dealing with people’s problems including benefits, particularly now with Universal Credit; debts; better deals; and neighbour disputes. As a pressure group it takes evidence of matters affecting the general public submitting it to Parliament. The speaker on 21 February is Gwenllian Roberts on Gwynedd Recycling. Meal choices and payment for the St David’s Day celebration should be submitted by the end of this meeting.

Pensioners Club

THE AGM was held on Tuesday, 5 February and all officers were re-elected. Mrs B W Jones was in the chair and she welcomed members and sent best wishes to members unable to attend. Sympathy was extended to the family of Stella Fitzpatrick who was an honorary member. Best wishes were sent to Doreen Cartwright who has been in hospital. Eirianwen Williams was welcomed back following recent surgery. Two honorary members were sent the club’s congratulations on their 100th birthdays. The programme for the year was discussed and arrangements made for the annual dinner at the Nanhoron Arms Hotel on 5 March, midday for 12.30pm. Any members wishing to attend should give their names to Mrs B W Jones or Mrs E Poole.
