Walkers
ON Saturday, 17 August, the New Quay Walkers took the T5 early bus to Aberystwyth Station, the starting point for their eight-mile circular walk led by Morlais Davies to Morfa Bychan and return.
The day was bright and breezy throughout with excellent visibility, ideal for walking and admiring the views.
The route took the 16 walkers and three dogs over Trefechan Bridge to Tanybwlch Beach and followed the path beside the delightful fast flowing Afon Ystwyth.
This led to a lane which involved a long gradual haul up to fields leading to Morfa Bychan.
Lunch was taken at this point at a glorious viewpoint overlooking the luxury homes at the holiday park with the sea beyond.
The afternoon session brought another change in terrain, following the high coast path looking north to the sweep of Cardigan Bay with Aberystwyth in the foreground.
A careful descent down the steep bank to Tanybwlch Beach and a stroll over the Millennium bridge took the walkers back to the station and some welcome refreshments.
The next walk on Saturday, 21 September, will be a circular walk in Devil’s Bridge and the Mynach Valley, meeting at 10.30am at the Devil’s Bridge railway car park.
