Party in the Park

PATRASA – Penrhyn-coch Park Association held a very successful Party in the Park on Saturday, 29 June with a good turnout of around 50 to 60 families with young children from the area along with supporters whose children have grown up.

The three different entertainments for the day were Silent Youth (a band of pupils from Penglais School), John Harrington and Jesse’s Sister with everyone enjoying the day.

Even though this is a fundraiser for the park, it is also a good community day with refreshments, barbecue, bouncy slide and bouncy castle, tug of war and various stalls.

There was plenty to occupy the children and adults. The weather was cooler than the previous days but the rain stayed away resulting in a good crowd staying right until the end. Many thanks to everyone who helped before the day, on the day and contributed in any way. Profit for the day should be close to £1,500, which is a very good total considering all the other events in the area on the same day.

The park in Penrhyn-coch is run solely by volunteers, leasing the land from Ceredigion County Council and relying totally on fundraising and grants to maintain and improve the park. The group has this year installed a new roundabout suitable for disabled and able bodied children with the help of grants and fundraising. They are hoping for additional funding in the near future to upgrade the climbing frame, which has seen better days, and the slide area with costs in the region of £25,0000.

There are also plans to improve the tennis courts area with costs for this being around £100,000.

If anyone is willing to help with maintenance or fundraising send a message to the PATRASA Facebook page.
