AN interesting evening was held in October when members were entertained by Gwawr Davies of Aberaeron.

She spoke to them about setting up a small business to create and sell decorative items made from driftwood, which she collects on local beaches.

Her enterprise, which she started after retiring from teaching, has grown over the years and she now sells her beautiful creations through many outlets.

She demonstrated the various processes involved in producing her gifts and had brought examples such as picture frames, small decorative trees and lamp holders to show.

On Halloween night the group visited Gareth Richards in Lampeter.

The famous chef, who regularly appears on S4C, showed them how to make various dishes with a harvest theme.

The next meeting on 14 November in the Memorial Hall, starting at 7pm, will be the AGM.

Much of the meeting will be a celebration of 100 years of votes for women.

Bethan Williams, a WI adviser, will talk about the significance of universal enfranchisement.

For information, call Monica Rose on 01974 298165.
