Inner Wheel club

CLUB president Mair Worsey welcomed the members and three guests to the October meeting which was held in the Talyllyn Railway Restaurant.

During the meeting, treasurer, Marjory Watmore, reported on the funds raised in August’s Race the Train event.

The members voted to give donations to the following charities: Wales Air Ambulance - Tywyn branch, £150; Aquabox Indonesian Tsunami Appeal, £200; Neuadd Pendre, Tywyn, £50; Bethel Chapel, Tywyn, £50 (in thanks for storage space over the past year); RNLI - Aberdyfi branch, £100; T? Gobaith, Conwy, £100.

Following the meal, president Mair welcomed the speaker, Bethan Edwards from Aberdyfi RNLI, who gave an enlightening talk and slide show on the subject ‘a job is not for life’.

Beth proved that the topic was a proven one as she illustrated by the variety of careers that she had undertaken.

Earlier in the month, members attended the Memorial Service for the late Ray Webb, a founder member of Tywyn Rotary Club, in the Yacht Club, Aberdyfi.

Followed the next day by a planting by Inner Wheel President, Mair, of a camelia plant in memory of Ray’s late wife, Carys Webb, who is a much missed past member of the club.

The ceremony was attended by Carys and Ray’s family members.

The members are now looking forward to a visit to T? Gobaith children’s hospice.
