Inner Wheel

THE Inner Wheel president Mair Worsey welcomed the members to the June meeting, her last meeting as president of the club after two successful enjoyable years.

Following the meeting and AGM reports members enjoyed a delicious meal in the Talyllyn Railway Restaurant.

At the end of June the club held a very busy successful Strawberry Tea in Llys Meuric, Abbeyfield Home in Tywyn in spite of a little rain curtailing the outside well-kept garden space the proceeds of over £550 was raised.

The money raised will be shared equally between the Abbbeyfield home and president Mair’s charity for this past year namely North West Cancer Research.

All the ladies would like to thank everyone that helped and supported us from the Tywyn and District Community. Diolch yn fawr.

Many thanks to Abbeyfield for the use of the facilities and to the local Co-op supermarket who donated the strawberries and cream making the event a great success.

Following the tea and clearing up all the members present watched Mair handing over the president’s chain of office to incoming president Meg Jones who takes the reigns for the next 12 months.

We are now preparing the catering arrangements for the Tywyn Rotary Club’s annual event Race the Train which is being held on Saturday, 17 August.

The Inner Wheel Club would be pleased and appreciate anyone who could help us for a short time on the day enabling us to raise funds and to donate to charities locally, nationally and overseas.

Rotary Club

IN 2017, the Rotary Club of Tywyn voted to extend the term of office of the club president to two years before handing over the chain of office to the senior vice president Nancy Clarke.

The new president is then required to oversee club business for the next 24 months.

This year retiring president Nancy summarised the achievements of Tywyn Rotary Club before handing over the chain of office to husband and president-elect, Graham Clarke.

President Graham accepted the nomination and thanked Nancy for the work that she had done for the club over the previous two years.

This was echoed by members of the club particularly during the previous two years that had been very difficult for Nancy who had overcome the challenges she faced and fulfilled her duties admirably.

President Graham thanked members for their support before summarising the club proposals for 2019-20.

All the members present at the meeting welcomed Graham and wished him every success in his new role.

Graham then passed the chain of office of the senior vice-president to Rotarian Paul Cartwright who will take up the role of club president in 2021.
