THE latest community news from Tywyn
Rotary club
DURING the month of December, the Rotary club were once again out delighting the local residents with a refurbished sleigh showing off their brand new reindeer.
The Santa Sleigh collections are a very important event in the club’s calendar.
As in previous years it was very gratifying to see so many children out with their parents excitedly waiting in groups along the route to see the colourful sleigh on which Santa, his elf and Rudolph welcomed everyone and distributed small pre-Christmas gifts to all the children.
The weather in December was wet and windy and one of the collections in Tywyn had to be postponed but the club still managed to complete all the scheduled collections in Tywyn and the surrounding villages.
The collections this year were very successful and the Rotary club managed to raise £2,688.29 for local and international charities during the door-to-door collections and the street collections outside the Co-op and Spar supermarkets.
Club president Graham Clarke expressed his sincere thanks to everyone who generously contributed to the collections and to everyone who helped to organise this event.
They would particularly like to thank Bob Edwards, Jack Morby and Rachel Cartwright.
