Inner Wheel

THE Inner Wheel Club held their monthly meeting at the Golf Club, Aberdyfi, on Thursday, 9 February. President Jane welcomed members and was delighted to officially induct Chrissie Yapp as a new member. During the business meeting it was passed that a donation of £100 be made to Capel Bethel. Many invitations had been received from Clubs within District 18 to their Interclub Celebrations. Warm wishes were sent to Carys Webb, a founder member, who is leaving the area to reside with her husband, Ray, at a residential home near Stroud in Gloucestershire to be nearer family. Following a delicious supper the speaker for the evening was Fiona Covington who volunteers as a Street Pastor in Newtown. This is a Christian charitable organisation supporting people of any age who are in need of assistance out on the streets at night. Their duties start at 9pm and can continue throughout the night mainly just being there as a friendly face and helper should they need support and guidance even simple first aid rather than face the police first. This is a very worthwhile service, not an easy task during cold, wet winter nights not knowing what you might face. Members were very interested in Fiona’s talk and admired her and her fellow workers for their devotion to duty. President presented a cheque to Fiona for £100 for the charity. The raffle was won by Megan Reynolds.
