Older People’s Forum
A SOUTH Meirionnydd Group will be getting together for a Winter Celebration, thanks to a gift from a national charity.
South Meirionnydd Older Peoples Forum has received a Winter Celebration Grant from Age Cymru as part of a campaign to combat loneliness and isolation.
The forum will use the money to hold a Winter Celebration event to support older people in the local area.
The event will take place in early February.
Chair, Arthur Cailey, said: “We’re so pleased to receive this generous grant as part of Age Cymru’s campaign to spread warmth to the elderly in the area.
“This gives us the opportunity to hold a fun filled day for members of our Forum who might otherwise miss out on a festive celebration.”
Secretary, George Buckley, said: “The Forum discussed the grant at its last meeting on Wednesday, 29 November, and we decided to hold the event in early February and provide a Buffet Lunch with music provided and will be subsidised from our funds. We have already got 50 people signed up to attend, so it looks like being a successful day.”
Victoria Lloyd, Age Cymru chief executive said: “Were pleased to give the South Meirionnydd Forum this gift through the Spread the Warmth Campaign, to combat loneliness during the long cold winter months.
“Our campaign highlights the importance of looking out for older people in winter and we are delighted to be able to support local groups with this important work.”
